Our Bundle of Joy

SOOOO... everyone said that as soon as you get married, you start a blog. Well that certainly hasn’t happened in this abode. I suppose now is better than never. I think that blogging is a modest way of bragging about how wonderful your life is, and if that is the case then we sure have something to brag about!

For those of you who know me well, you know how much of a dog lover I am and how obsessed I am with our little Sadie. Since she is up in Washington and keeping my parents company and giving them plenty of love, I have been looking at getting a puppy of my own to snuggle with. A little over a month ago I began the innocent phase of “I just want to look.” Every craigslist add for dogs was looked at from Seattle down to Las Vegas, but we never found a dog that just fit. We only had two rules:

1.     We wanted a girl
2.     She had to be cute (Sorry to those un-cute dogs out there… you know who you are)
3.     She couldn’t be yippy our loud
4.     Her personality just needed to blend with our family

I felt that we wouldn’t get a puppy unless it was just meant to be and just fell into our hands. On Friday, 4/20, I got a call from the Rexburg animal shelter letting me know that they had a couple small dogs that I could come and look at. I drove over and found Millie. We grew up with a long-haired dachshund, Muffy, and so Millie quickly melted my heart.

I'm not sure what made me happier... that I made Muffy wear silly glasses? Or that I snuck into my Big Sisters room to do it!
(Me as a little girl sleeping on our fabulous 80's couch... with Muffy)

Throughout this whole process Daniel had been supportive and allowed me to look, but the trick was I needed to get him to the shelter with me so that he could see how perfect Millie was for our family. We came back at three and he loved her as much as I did. We bought her and have had a blast with her ever since.

She is the perfect little girl. She is 2 years old and has already been fixed and up to date on all her shots. She is already potty trained and very smart. She loves walks and especially loves to go riding in our cars. She is a happy and energetic puppy but also loves to snuggle. She came with a kennel and a bunch of toys and we quickly discovered that she loves wearing doggy clothes!

For the past week, we have been the happiest and proudest parents of this little girl, Millie.
